Yesterday Rory Bushfield attended the 21st annual ESPY awards with the first winner of the Sarah Burke Foundation’s “Up and Coming Scholarship” Award, 14-year-old Winter Vinecki. The Foundation was established in memory of Bushfield’s wife, Sarah Burke, to commemorate the overwhelming generosity and kindness of the world-renowned X-Games gold medalist skier.
Winter Vinecki is an avid triathlete and skier whose sights were set on alpine skiing until Sarah Burke’s performance at a water ramp camp inspired her to change course. Winter is now pursuing aerial skiing and is a major philanthropist. She has raised over $400,000 for prostate cancer research through “Team Winter,” the charity she founded. Winter dreams of becoming the youngest person to complete a marathon on every continent.
